Hello Sharen, Did they have any children her maiden name will be on a childs birth certificate. Her maiden name and fathers name and occupation will be on her marriage certificate also.Did she have any older siblings that may be on the 1911 census. Do you know when or where she died there will be a death certificate and it should give her former name on that,if not there could be a report of her death in the local newspaper where she died and it could give you info about her in that (parents, siblings etc that could help you). Hope this helps you a little.

The Merthyr Exprees newspaper on the National Library of Wales Newspapers on line website should have the 1904 paper on it although some dates are missing. If not available on line you can contact Merthyr Tydfil Central Library give them the date and page number of the obit and they can send you a copy will not cost much as they will be able to straight to it rather than have to search all through the newspaper for it. Hope this helps. Mike

There is 1 photo on this website of Quarry Row taken in 1973 it is on the Bethesda Street page. It just shows a long view down the street there are some old houses on it at the Bethesda street end before they were knocked down.

Which Quarry Row? can you narrow it down to a district as there are 4 or 5 streets with that name in the Merthyr Borough area.

Hello Alice, I assume you have checked with the old records held by Merthyr Tydfil central library. They have school records, church records marriages/death/baptism.They can also look for any obits in the local newspaper if there is an obit and you can give them a date of death.(eg) There is report of the death of a Michael Harrington age 28 a labourer at Dowlais works who lived at 4 Wind Street Dowlais this is on page 9 of Merthyr Express newspaper 5th August !905.There may be a death report of Maurice Hennessy in 1942 although the newspapers were not as full as they were normally as to save on paper and ink because of the war!

Hello, According to Merthyr Tydfil trade directories for 1895 and 1901 there was a David Walters (residential list) living at 6 Westbourne Place Plymouth Street Merthyr Tydfil, could this be B.W Walters family/father?. There is not any photographer listed with that name in directories I have access to from the 1890's too 1920. Have no access to census at this time but it might be worth checking to see if the family is living at that address in 1891 and 1901 census and see if it gives their occupation's. Hope this is some help to you. Good luck, Mike

Hello I think the place you are talking about is called Tranch fach not Terrea Brook it was row of houses on the edge of the Cyfarthfa works it was later knocked down when the works expanded and they built new coke ovens on the site of the houses. The site would be where the B&Q store is today along side the A470 road.

Hello Ross There was a marriage of a Morgan Davies to a Ann Emmanuel at Saint Davids Church Merthyr Tydfil on 11th October 1869 this is possibly his marriage. There is a death/accident report in the Merthyr Express newspaper for a Howell (Evans) it could be a mistake of his surname Emamuel killed by a fall roof at No7 colliery Dowlais on 23rd February 1878 it says he lived in Nantygwenith Street Georgetown Merthyr Tydfil this street ran along side of Iron Lane so it is likely to be ANN's brother. If you send an email to Merthyr Central library they can send you a copy of the report it is not very big but if you would like a copy they will not charge you much . The report is on page 5 of the 2nd March 1878 issue of newspaper. To Contact library mary.oates@wellbeingmerthyr.co.uk I will look to see if there is a report of Morgans death in the train station.Hope this is useful to you.

Hello Mai It can depend on where you are living and if you can use a computer or not you can go on Ancestry.com and Find my past in the libraries in Wales for free not sure about libraries outside of Wales. Merthyr Library do have a number of records for baptism / marriage for churches and some chapel records, they have electoral records, old photos, old newspapers you could look at old newspapers to see if there are any death/funeral reports in them they could give family members and addresses in the reports. The library has ancestry and find my past for free if you are a member of the library. If you ask for help and it is quiet they will help you. You could join a local family history society and get help from them also.
