Hi there. I was wondering where Terrea Brook was. It appeared in the 1881 census and my ancestors lived at no. 2 - somewhere near Tai Mawr, Nantygwenith Street / Cyfarthfa Road and the Cyfarthfa Houses and I was always told that they were knocked down for a new road. I thought it was for the Head of the Valleys road, but looking forward and back in the census to neighbouring roads, it appears to be further south than I thought. Any light on this would be ace.

Hello I think the place you are talking about is called Tranch fach not Terrea Brook it was row of houses on the edge of the Cyfarthfa works it was later knocked down when the works expanded and they built new coke ovens on the site of the houses. The site would be where the B&Q store is today along side the A470 road.
