Hi Peter 123.. Sorry it’s taken me so long to reply, and thank you for the information. You certainly seem to know the bands and people I mentioned. With regards to Bobby Brown do you know what band he played in? I’ve never heard of him, but that doesn’t say much. I knew Alan Crompton and he was an excellent guitarist. I always thought of him as the Eric Clapton of Merthyr and I still think that if he had pursued his career by going to London or such place he would have been very successful. I’m dismayed to learn he’s become as you say… very shy! You also mention your brother Phil so I’m guessing that you are Peter. I’m sure we might know each other but I would prefer the anonymity in an open forum so that people can be as candid as they like. I can’t remember if you are older or younger than your brother? There was also another excellent guitarist who’s name was Lyn ? from Penydarren but I can’t recall his surname. If I do remember it I will post it.. Please keep the memories coming and I hope others will join too… Goldfish…

Are The Trembling Knees really still going ? What a great band, I did a bit of roadying for them when I lived in Swansea. Their regular spot was the basement at The Coachouse ? in Wind Street Swansea, it was always packed out there. Tony Howells (Plum,my boss) did the vocals when I knew them, he reminded me of Joe Cocker when he sang. Lyn Mittel, Graham Morgan and myself were great friends along with Alan Jones (Necky) and Alex from The Triangle, In fact we had plans to go to Belgium in my old Commer van but we never followed it up. The things you think of when you're young eh. Anyone remember Grahams brother Tony, who used to do those old MG sports cars up, in Galon Uchaf, with his M8 Frenchie ? Ahh, the good old days ! Tony.

My brother Stuart Davies used to play drums in “The Villains” with Ken Arthur, Keith Sussex, Bobby Watkins and Phil Davies. He now lives in Brecon I wonder what the others are doing now?

I also remember seeing Max in the Folk Club, this was before EMI released “Live at Treorchy Rugby Club” which made him.
