Hi Y'all. Something I've been meaning to put on here for ages, but been forgetting. As most of you will know my original Squier 52 Telecaster was stolen around the mid 80s from John Prices car from the back of Dowlais catholic club one sunday night. I realise it's a long time ago,but that guitar meant the world to me. so I just want to put the details on here, you never know,a memory might be jogged somewhere. Obviously it was butterscotch,& at the time had a painting on the scratch plate of a wolf howling at the moon, about the size of a 50p piece.the serial number was JV06834. Made approx April/July 1982.it was in an old Selmer 335 type case. really odd it never surfaced, someone must have known something about it,there were rumours that the theft was rather close to home. anyway as we all in the guitar brotherhood see stealing someones instrument as the ultimate crime,I just wanted to put it out there that I aint forgotten it,not even sure the police looked into it. Maybe somewhere, someday,a clue might arise to what happened to it. Thanks for reading chaps,my best for the new year, Wolman. P.S,I remember Jethro rehearsing with that Hagstrom, but not gigging with it,he also had a really early Precision, once again dont remember hin gigging with it. On the way to Germany,he & I went to Jennings in London, where he got a Framus les Paul shaped bass,he used it all through Germany,& for some time after,it was a great bass, light as a feather,& really belted it out. when we were doing caberet in the 70s,he used a natural finish Fender Jazz tha he bought off Mitell,I'm sure Jeff could fill in all the missing info if we could get him on here.

May Les forgive all you unbelievers!,it takes a real man to tote around 11lbs of mahogany, maple & rosewood around your neck for hours on end!. thinks........I wonder if Gibson would build me one out of Balsa wood!. let's hope this site gets going again in the new year. best for the new year Y'all. Wolffy.

Hi Y'all,Just a note to say I've posted my guitar pics on my facebook page,& no mean feat it was either, took me bleedin'ages!.wonder why this page translated my comment of Cals as 'Pregnant red dog',what I'd written was that Cal used to call my Srat 'The red pregnant dog',has it done the same again?.hey Bluesman47,huge apologies for the cock up on sunday, this technology is too much for me.anyone noticed that the original contribitors to this site, dont contribute any more, wonder why?.got some tales to tell that could be 'sensitive' to some ears, know who I mean?...wink,wink.anyway,there must be loads of us either on stage or in the audience that have stories to tell.got some great memories of doing gigs in London, then travelling back over night to record at Rockfield,I wrote to Charles Kingsley some time ago asking if he could in some way let me have copies of The Harts tracks,no reply, guess they're just to big time now to bother with the guys that established them as a studio,do you detect a touch of vitriol?,sodding right!.come on chaps, don't let the side down, ypu've got as many memories as I have, keep the local 60's flag flying!,regards,Wolfman

Hello Readers!,been off the air this week.great to have Ian 'Son of Cal' on board.it was such a pleasure to work with Cal,I knew every gig was gonna be fun!,I sarted to use a Telecaster at first, one night I took my Strat,& it turned out he loved it!,particularly the inbetween p/u sound,he would thereafter ask me if i'd brought 'That Red pregnant dog' even before I'd opened the case!.what a Gent, whatever Cal got payed,I got payed,& that's more than I can say for a couple of singers I backed before him!.I remember the first time I met him,he was in The Tequilas/Outcasts,& I was in The Crescendos,we often would do a double bill at the Kirkhouse.the band broke into Lucille,a cowboy boot shot out of the wings,a shout of Yeh!,& there was the great man!,he scared the crap out of me!,even then,Cal never talked down to me,even though I was about 14yrs old,I thought 'I like this guy!'.I'm proud to say I was his last guitarist,& I was with him till the end, still can't believe he aint with us.I'll never forget every time I rang him,his voice would boom out 'Speak,it's your money!',it would take me right back to friday nights in the Kirkhouse,God bless you Cal,hope to see you sometime, but I know you would'nt want it to be any time soon!,The Old Man From The Mountains',love you mate.Wolfman

I think you were safe Bluesman 47,as far as I can remember my detuning was after your departure,I wouldnt have got away with it when you were there!,I think it happened by accident, wonky pitch pipe or something, and I thought....."this'll do for me!",strange thing is I'm now so fanatical about perfect concert tuning I cant even stand any of those exotic tunings for long.so put your mind at rest, old Wolffy didnt pull a sneaky one on the great Bluesman47.when I was looking at those photos of us in the Fleetwoods van I was really reminded how much you looked like Scott Walker in them, lucky bleeder,no wonder I never got a look in with the hot crazy mamas!,there were hot crazy mamas were'nt there!?.Anyway I would have been far to serious a student of my instrument to have taken any notice of them!,,well that's what I've consoled myself with all these years.sleep well,Wolfman

Thanks to the Bassman for pointing out the Bystanders Srats/Jags were SONIC BLUE & not Lake Placid blue as I stated,no excuse since I actually played Clives Jag as I said earlier, boy is my Strat red!,wonder who this mysterious four stringer (or maybe 5 or 6 stringer) is,who is this masked man?.this site seems to be coming along a treat.take care Y'all, and don't forget to wipe those strings down after every session.regards,Wolfman

Hey YoungBuck!,re those ice blue fenders, yes, you've guessed it,here comes another rockers ramblings. The Bystanders originaly got themselves Lake Placid blue Srats, but they didnt keep them long, they put then in for same finished Fender Jaguars.....& this is where our story realy begins,Clive John would on occasion have to work late at Gamlins,in City road at that time,& I was called in to play rhthym guitar (having been great mates with Micky for some time before then) because they were under (rather srict) management I was not allowed to use my beloved Futurama, but had to play Clives Jaguar, not only that, but I also had to wear his suit, now Clive being around 5ft 10in,& me only around 5ft 8is a certain amount of sartorial adjustment was needed,& I stiill remember the sweat running down my back as I tried to get a decent sount out of that sodding Jag!,no matter what switch you selected you wound up back where you started. About a year or so later,The Harts were on a double bill with The Bystanders at the Palace ballroom, now I never told anyone this, but I used to tune down to Eb,unfortunately I broke a string on my SG,so Micky said 'Use my Srat',you ever tried to tune a Srat up in a few seconds in a live situation?,no chance, really embarrasing situation.thing is my de-tuning was all going so well till we got Vic in on sax & Gerald in on keyboards, then of course concert tuning ruled, mind you it gave me endless hours of fun seeing Mittel trying to reach notes that for some reason he was able to get to much easier before the brass & keyboards were added to the band!.then theres the wonderful story of our first night in Germany........ah but that's for another time, thanks for reading folks, lots of Growls,Wolfman

Hello Bluesman, you really identified yourself there,by the time the 335 got into ny grubby little hands the Tunomatic bridge was complete, saddles & all dont remember where they came from tho.it was a sad day when Micky & Clive came to pick it up after I came back from Germany,Micky's Srat had been stolen,so he needed it a bit quick.I was looking at some photos of you & I taken in the van we bought off The Fleetwoods, remember it? when it rained the water would come blasting through the floor, usualy over me,which you all thought was hilarious!,we always seemed to be cold & wet.great to hear from you after all this time, these infernal machines have their uses afterall.seems like this site is warming up,great stuff, keep it going chaps.kind regards,Wolfman

Dear Mr Young Buck,a Hoffner sodding Verithin!,that my dear chap was a 1962 Gibson 335!,I can only assume your seat must have been some way back!,it was in fact on loan from Clive John of the Bystanders,& waiting at the side of the stage was my trusty 1961 Gigson SG Standard,sadly,62's had a neck joint problem, which I found out to my cost some months after that show when we were rehearsing in London & the neck decided to part company with the body!,so a quick return to Barratts in Cardiff & got myself the '64 Telecaster thay I used on almost all of The Harts gigs after that.still miss that SG,what a great guitar, still the Tele gave me a chance to do my very bad James Burton impressions!.ah,seems like yesterday!.many other guitar stories to bore you with, great to hear from you, must be more of my old mates out there, come on chip in!,take care Y'all,Wolfman
