My grandfather, Richard Griffith, was a coal mine manager in the Merthyr Area and sometime in the the 1920/30's lived with his second wife Minerva Tissen and his sons from his first marriage, Kenneth and Bernard, in the mine manager's house in Georgetown, merthyr Tydfil. Some older family members remeber visiting this large house with stables at the rear. Research indictaes that it was demoliched to make room for a RAFA club and subsequently became part of the Merthr RFC area. I would dearly love to find a photograph of that old house.
