Hello, I wonder if anyone can throw any light on my query. I would like to know if anyone has any information regarding this period which would help me to find out more about my ancestor. My cousin and I have discovered a lot about our family and would like to add more information if we can find it. An Ancesto ;)r, surname Bowen, was Lady Charlotte Guest's Agent in the mid 19th century. I did once have a letter frrom him to another member of the Bowen family, but, having moved about quite a lot, (I now live in France) it has got mislaid.
Sincerely, Rachel Bowen

Hi Rachel,
I have both volumes of Lady Charlotte's diary, a book of Dowlais Iron Works letters, and a couple of other references on the Dowlais Works. I would be happy to see if there are references to him.
Regards,
Jim Joseph

Hello, and thank you. I have only just seen your reply to my query of some time ago, having posted virtually the same one today. I would be most grateful if you could find any record of my 'family member' in Lady Charlotte's diaries. I live in France and find the internet most useful in finding out info. Perhaps you also have information on the British Schools in South Wales? A direct ancestor, called either John William Bowen, or just John, or just William Bowen is recorded as Schoolmaster, British schools in a mid-19th census, I don't have the details in front of me, and later as a traveller for books - Castillion - the writing is not very clear. I think the books would have been religious or educational. Perhaps you can throw some light here? Sincerely, Rachel Bowen
