I used to go to the Queens, but not in 64 time. I used to be friendly with John (son of the cafe owner) I think the name was Baboudy or something like that. We used to go out in his Mini

I used to be a regular at the cafe, and was friendly with the Babooties (that, obviously, is not the correct spelling, but that`s how it `sounded`), I had a brother, who had a Mini Van, he was very friendly with John and the rest of the family, and did odd jobs for them, as well as delivering for a grocer in Victoria street, not sure if it was Liptons/Maypole (?) untill he crashed it into the bridge at the bottom of a steep hill just before Torpantau, John still lives in Merthyr, and we run into each other now & again,

Further to my previous message, the above mentioned people were very prominent in the Queens cafe especially Saturday afternoon,it was where we would all meet up for a chat ,maybe talk about music fashion etc, some of us were musicians & would go on from there to a gig, others of us would hitch a ride to London to the allnight session at the Flamingo(not every Saturday). Most people I meet from those days rememer me & my brother Phil. Some of us are still into that cafe culture and meet up most weeks for a beer or coffee .John Evans I hope some of what I've said has struck a chord

Yeah, I hung out there - steam pies and rasberry ices - oh yeah! My mates were John Owens from Ivor st , Og (Peter Morgan, Blanche st), Graham, Dai Bingo, Stella Evans, Mary O'Connor and a ton of others I can't remember names but lots of faces.
On another note yes I new Turphy, went to Cyfartha school with him.
Speaking of mods, I wish I still had my Vespa!!
