Hi All.
I have a problem, a brick wall...
It keeps scratching at me every now and then and I just can't let it go, even after eight yrs of nothing.
My Grt Grt Grandfather hailed from (According to 1841/1851 and 1861 census from "Merthyr", names as such and not "Merthyr Tidfyl" or "Merthyr Mawr" or any thing else and placed as "In County" in 1841, and Merthyr GLA. in subsequent census.
He married in 1837 in Ystradgynlais just a couple months before the Civil Marriage/Birth requirements came into force. Because of this I only have a Church record of the marriage, this church rcord states only that there was consent of parents and he "Was of this Parish" vis a vis Ystradgynlais.
I do not know if he was alone in Ystradgynlais or if his parents went there or whether he had siblings.
I am presuming he went to Ystradgynlais from Merthyr because of the Ynyscedwen Iron Works opening up there, but not sure if he was alone.
I have searched where and when I could, I now turn to you, Merthyr based friends perhaps?
My Grt Grt Grandfather was: Daniel JENKINS DOB 1914 m Lyzzod WATKIN of Ystradgynlais in St Cynog Parish Church Ystradgynlais in 1837. They had several Children.
Daniel b 1838,
Rees Goronwy JENKINS (Born 00/00/1840),
Mary JENKINS (Born 00/00/1843),
Lyzod JENKINS (Born 01/12/1845),
Elizabeth JENKINS (Born 00/00/1849),
Thomas JENKINS (Born 00/06/1852),
Daniel (Senior) and Rees died of Cholera in Ystalyfera in 1866.
I have found a couple of Daniel JENKINS in my searches but their birth years differ so much that they are unlikely to be a match.
CAn anyone help here?
Best Greeting
John Jones
