I would be interested to know if anyone has any photos of the jazz bands. I was thinking about the jazz band competitions we had in the 50;s. to name a few I remember; The Indians, The Scot Highlanders and a band I was in; Viannese Officers.
I am now living in Perth Australia, and have not got any photos of any of the Bands, I would like to see some in this Forum. Come on fellow members hunt through those old photos, and share them with us.

HI TAFFYBILL IT WOULD BE NICE IF THERE WAS SOME BUT A LOT OF PEOPLE DIDNT HAVE CAMERAs then any way ,yes i remember them my mum was in the DOWLAIS HIGHLANDERS AND MY DAD WAS ON THE COM, I REMEMBER THE INDIANS BECAUSE WE WERE IN TRETHOMAS AND I HAD TO FILL IN ON THE SIDE DRUMS, I AM AT PRESENT TRYING TO GET THE MERTHYR EXPRESS TO LET ME LOOK THROUGH THEIR ARCHIVES BECAUSE I KNOW THEY TOOK SOME!!!!

hi i remember the indians/gresham flyers/zulus/ plus others i was a side drummer in a junior band from pentwyn quakers yard called the turks(i have a photo at home somewhere)

My Mother, Mair Thomas was in the Treharris Turks and her Sister, Tegwen was in the Treharris Indians. My Brother has a picture of some of them dressedin costume for a street party somewhere. I'll try to find it and post it on here ok.

my wife's father Jack Carlick was the leader of the treharris indians, my wife is asking if hamback is related to the Hafods from Fell St.
