I have lived in London all my life and my parents/grandparents never really told me much about the past, so now I am trying to go back in time.
I know that I still have relatives in Wales on my Uncle Davy's side. and believe they used to own/run a sheep farm in the Pontreventigyd (Don't know how to spell it yet) area.
According to the Wales census' my Great Grandfather, Ebenezer and his wife Mary (I think Hannah) lived in Troedyrhiw at the turn of the century. I think this was his second wife. His children included my grandfather Morgan who died on the Isle of Wight, my Auntie Betty (Elizabeth) who died in a hospital in St. Albans, and my Uncle Davy (David). The census show other children as well which I am not sure about, as I never knew anything about them.
My Grandfather lived and worked in Troedyrhiw in the mine and was in a pit fall there which gave him a terrible blue scar right across his nose, which allowed me to find him in Naval records for the First World War.
I have a lot of photos and info about the Morgan Rees side of the family as they are the ones we kept in touch with. Also all the news about their son Vernon and his children (of which I am the eldest)
Having a grandchild of my own now, it's all going to disappear into the ether if I don't do something about it and record as much as I can.
Anybody who knows or wants to find out more, contact me, I don't bite!!. Thanks.............Byron Rees.
