Hi All I have been tracing my ancestors who lived in Dowlais, They were from Waterford in Ireland but moved over and worked in the iron works . They lived in 4 Cross Wind Street ,and although I lived in Penydarren until I was 23 and my hunting ground included the whole of Dowlias and Penydarren I can't remember this street . I have a suspicion that it may have been in the Cwm as I know that at some time they lived there .But I don't Know the names of the streets that were there. Any information would be appreciated Bye the way my Gt/Gt/Grandfather was called Patrick Corcoran and he married Margaret Corcoran (nee Brown)who's mother was called Bridget Brown she was from Waterford and was a brick maker in the iron works. Thanks in advance Gareth.B

Thanks for the reply Ken.I think that Eddy must be another family as I have no record of that name in my line, but as of yet there are some gaps that may eventually refer to an Edward.

There used to be little lane between Wind St. and Horse St, there was a Gospel hall there, then a bit of a car park. This was just behind the Oddfellows Hall. This could be the place that you are looking for. The old place," was old " but at least it had character, and some form .Not any longer
