My great-greats were named Jenkin (son) and Abraham Evans (father) and lived in Merthyr in the 1840 and 1850's in Georgetown. I have some good information on them, but I'm always looking for more, for example, I know Abraham's father's name was also Jenkin, but I don't know anything beyond that.
Family tradition has it that, at least in the mid-1850's, the family had a public house in Merthyr. I just recently found a reference to "Abraham Evans of the Rolling Mill, Merthyr" in a book about Chartists. It appears to be talking about the Chartists in the 1840's. Very exciting!
Check the "pubs" forum for my initial post and citation details on the Rolling Mill. Feel free to contact me at my email address. Thanks,
J. Evans
