Hi Angel, My mom can remember visiting Blaencanid farm when she was a child.I will ring her tomorrow and see if see knows any thing about a Richard Williams. My grandmother was a Williams from merthyr. Her mother my greatgrandmother died in Heolgerrig in 1944. My mother spent time in Heolgerrig whilst her mother nursed her grandmother. She even went to school there. so at this time your father would have been around 24.I also have a second cousin I can ask as she also spent time at the farm.Sue

The picture on the front is the williams of Blaencanaid farm. I have a copy of this picture and a couple of other pictures of the farm and the Williams.Colin Peters has told me that they are George,Eirwyn Toms wife? a Mrs Williams and an arthur. I dont yet know how they fit in with my family if at all. Best Wishes Sue

Hi Sue Great to read your message. I have the book The top of the Stoney Road it was in dads bookcase, I have wrote to Iris Roderick to ask if she could remember the Farm and the lady that lived thier but she could'nt. I have been up to the the farm but there was no one in when i got there, but it was lovely to see the place., as I only live about an hours drive away. Yes the people in the picture were my gran and grandad, but if you look in the old Merthyr Forum and look under Cum Woods there is a couple of photos of the Farm and Mary Williams (my gran) and Aunty Eirwen is stood on the door step and my garndad who was called arthur there with i think two of his uncles. I look forward to hearing from you again, take care best wishes Angel (Debbie)

Hello Sue, I was wondering if your line of Williams are related at all to a George Williams born 1881 in worcester and his wife Mary Williams born 1878 Troedyrhiw? Chez

Dear Debbie I have at long last asked my mother she does not remember the names of the people on the farm as she was quite young when she spent time in Heolgerrig. How ever my Grandmother was insistent that one of the men on the front of the book was her father David Thomas Williams, I dont know I think the Williams of the farm were only cousins I have not proved any good link yet only what she told me before she died about her father being brought up on the farm after his mothers death when he was only months old.I am stuck with this line of my family tree as Davids father ,John Williams could be 1 of 2 possible Johns I have found living in the same street with both their fathers names being Edward. I need to find some time to look into it further. Happy New Year I hope you find out more about Richard best wishes Sue

Hi Sue Happy New Year to you, I was told by dad that the photo on the fornt of the book was my great gran and grandad, but i have a cousin in Port Talbot who might be able to help us with this photo and hopefully help with the search for you, i will write to him this week and will let you know as soon as i get any news back from him. Does the name of Emris (dont know if i spelt that right or not) Wills ring any bells as he was also a cousin of the Williams on the farm. I will be in touch as soon as i can, take care Debs
