Hi Bryn
I have access to Ancestery - give you me your G/Fathers name, where born and date of birth.
I'll have a look at the 1881 census and give you a second opinion if you want?
Balca does seem odd unless it's an acronym for something?
Regards
Paul

Hi Bryn If you are refering to James/Jennett/William on the 1881 census it's odd because if you want to dispaly the original document it comes up with info for the census collector! I searched google with balca and Merthyr - and there was an article that refered to a Balca Cottage and also noted Balka = Bwllfa (welsh spelling). www.ggat.org.uk/historic%20landscapes/Merthyr%20Tydfil/English/Merthyr_025.htmHaven't asnwered your question - but it may help you get nearer to your goal. Good luck. Paul
