Does anyone have anything on Lawn House, Bethesda St, Georgetown, photos or anecdotes.. anything. I have researched some old maps and it appears to be attached to the old tanyard which was situated behind and alongside the house. My grandparents were the last occupiers before it was demolished in the 70's. I am told that the cellar was big enough to house approx 5/6 lorries, the large tree that exists at the crossroads opposite the Lantern pub was in the grounds of the house. The house also boasted circular pond with an ornamental fountain in the middle. for the period this suggests there was serious money associated with the property. In the mid 19th century a Maurice Goodman lived there with his family, who I think were Lithuanian Jews. I would like to know how the house came to be called "Lawn House", was it named after the terrace, or vice-versa?. Also does anyone have anything on the tanyard itself, which had a pub named after it on the site. ( I have seen the photo on the website.)
