Hi, I am trying to research my Welsh family history - my Grandmother Kate Morgan was born in Methyr - got details from 1901 Census - lived at 13 Bethel Street, Merthyr - any ideas where I can go from here regarding schools etc. any help would be gratefully received. Thanks - Gaynor Flanagan

the photos of dowlais transport, brought back so many memories.I lived in Plough Place, right between Garth garage ,and Idris Abrahams bus garage,. Yes which was in the yard at the back of the old "Plough Inn.Yes I remember the old steam trucks, chain driven, bringing coal to the gas works. The buses some canvased topped Leyland Lions, tigers,Guilfords, Star,so many,so many free rides. We didnt have much in those days, but our imaginations, made us drive those trucks and buses all over the place,an old pram wheel for steerig, and an old poker for a gear stick. Times have changed. Kids now see a nice new car, lets break the window ,lets scratch it for fun.
