My father came from merthyr in the 1920s to NEW ZEALAND-His name was Daniel Nash Matthews and he must,ve had brothers and sisters and I must have cousins yet to be met- His dad was in the mining scene, so anyone know any imformation about the Matthews clan in the early 1900s would be pleased to here from you--thanks--or how such imformation can be obtained.

I think the first stop would be to find your father's birth certificate, that would give you his fathers name and his mothers maiden name, you can then check the General Register Office Indexes to find out if he had brothers and sisters. If you don't have your fathers birth certificate you can use the GRO index to find that too (as long as you have his date of birth ) the index is arranged by quarters, so births in Jan Feb March appear in the March quarter, The index is on line (and its free) at ancestry.co.uk although there is some errors you have to be creative to find some of the entries, otherwise use a pay per view site like 1837.com
