My great-grandparents (John Jones and Elizabeth Charles) were married in 1850 at the "Pontmorlais Chapel" (Calvinistic Methodists) in Merthyr Tydfil.
Can anyone tell me whether this chapel still exists and, if so, where it is?
Are there any photos of it?
Also, does anyone know anything about this couple?
Many thanks.

Can anyone tell us whether the Pontmorlais Chapel still exists and can you tell me if Pontmorlais Church is the same place?

Hi I'm new to this forum, but I'm interested to know about the chapel too. I read on one of the pages on the site that it was rebuilt at one stage. My great-grandparents, David Rees and Jane Richards were married there also. I'm from Australia and look forward to finding more about my roots on this site and on this forum. I will use the FAmily forum to post my background.

I have learnt that the chapel has closed and that the records, such as they are, are held at Merthyr Tydfil Library.

So is there any way to access those records? I do have my great grandparents marriage certificate already, but I believe further information can be found in church records, and I wonder whether there would be baptism records for their children as some of the dates I have are a bit uncertain.
