Can anyone help? Where are old Parish records kept, of Churches and Chapels of Merthyr Tydfil that are no longer in existence?

Thank you, indeed it is correct. The parish records that are available can be located at the Merthyr Library. Very interesting. Thanks to such information being recorded, my daughter and I were able to progress a little further in tracing our family tree.

Hello, this is my first post and I'm hoping I can find an answer. I'm not even sure if this is the right section of the forum in which to ask. Well, here goes.

I was born in Tydfil Lodge and, while I do have my birth certificate, I have no documentation of my baptism. In fact, I don't even know where I was baptised. Please forgive my ignorance of this, but I would assume that this would have taken place in a chapel.

The two closest chapels to where we lived would have been Elim, in North Street, Penydarren, and Horeb in Church Street, Penydarren. We lived in Church Street.

Are these chapels still in existence? If they are, can I assume that a record of my baptism would be available, if, in fact, that either of these chapels was the one where I was baptised?
