My Great Great Grand Father William Morgan is listed on the 1891 census as being the inn keeper at the Red Lion. I wonder if anyone has any information or a photograph of this public house?

I would also like info on this Red Lion as my Great great grandfather John Mitchell was the innkeeper in the 1861 census, and his widow Sarah Mitchell was innkeeper in 1871, when it was 57 Dowlais Top.

Hello BOTH Do not know much about DOWLAIS area . You should be able to get LICENCE records from GLAMORGAN ARCHIVES in CARDIFF . These might tell you how long your families ran or owned pubs weather the names of pubs changed etc . There are also somtimes reports in local newspaper about licence renewals or applications for licence.
