My grandfather was living at 100 Wool St, Merthyr Tyfil in 1901. His family was still living there until at least 1908. Can anyone please tell me whether Wool St is still in existence, and (if not) where was it situated in relation to Merthyr Tydfil today?

Thanks Mike for your reply. As a senior poster (and I can't see a link to Admin) perhaps you could answer a question for me. Some forums when you receive a reply a notification will go to your private e-mail address. I do not think that this is the case with this site. Is there any way that Admin would have the e-mail addresses of Forum members? I have sent a reply to someone who last posted on this site in 2010 but have not received a reply. I would like Admin to help by sending him/she a message by e-mail to contact me on the Forum. The member's username is welshroots. He/she posted in 2009 under the title Timothy Mahoney and was asking for details about this person. The Timothy Mahoney in question is my maternal grandfather, and Margaret Mahoney also mentioned is my late aunt. I would like to get in touch with welshroots and can help him/her to obtain Timothy Mahoney's birth certificate (which definitely does exist!). I look forward to hearing from you.

I have done a search of all Ellen Mahoneys in the Censuses and only my grandfather's sister came up for 100 Wool St. Also Ellen was actually Margaret Ellen and she went on to marry a William McCue. So it doesn't seem as if we have the same person. I think I did see a Ellen K Mahoney (Sullivan) in the census but it wasn't Wool St. Regards, Alan

My Grandmother Mrs Catherine Davies lived at 101 Wool Street, Caedraw from 1915, she and two of her children, Griffith and Esther are on the 1921 Census and my mother Esther Rachel Davies and her 2 brothers went to Caedraw Infants School. My mother then went to Cyfartha School from 1922. Their father, my grandfather David Davies was the parent on the school registers but I have been unable to trace him since 1914. Any information would be most welcome.
