Hi everyone. I've been looking at this site for a few years but only just joined. I've started to look though my old photo's and once I've scanned them will send them in. My name is Alan Williams, dob 10.9.56. I went to Merthyr Vale school in about 1961, then Afon Taf in 1967 where I left to become a Taxman in 1975 (still on my year out ;D!) Now work in London but all my family still live round about, my parents, Jean and Malcolm still live in Glyndwr St. I still love going back 'home' whenever I can. I played sport throughout and have lots of great memories - and some pics. I also played one game for Merthyr Tydfil FC (mid-week game in Kings Lynn - 7 hours each way with Gareth Williams from Treharris though will never appear in any records!) and played several years for Merthyr rugby club and Hoover cricket 2nd IX. Am still in touch with lots of old friends but would love to hear from more. Anyway, the main purpose of this is to see if anyone else remembers me (good or bad) or would like to share memories of Merthyr Vale/Afon Taf (or anything else) around the time I was there, e.g., who remembers the Head, Mr Howells, giving the same sermon about snowballs every year - "Can you make an eye?" Please post or even email me (wilalan@aol.com). Before I go and try and post some pics, just want to say what a brilliant site this is - and is very much appreciated by this particular exile. Perhaps we should advertise it more amongst our contacts and spread the word! Bye for now. Alan

I know this bloke, he's still waiting to be paid for his Merthyr debut.Typical taxman, all money, money. He's also a serial groper of cute blondes. As for old friends, he's not got any. I should know, as I'm one. Great site, Monty
