Hi, Does anyone have any information on J Harpur of Dowlais. I have an 8 day wall clock which was my grandfathers which was made by Jerome & Co of America but the clock face says J Harpur Dowlais. and I cannot find any information on him. Is he a clock maker, shop, repairer? Any info greatly appreciated. Simon (Bridgend)

I have just asked my mother aged 89 and she can't remember J Harpur of Dowlais.

Hello There was a JOESPH HARPUR (gold jeweller/pawnbroker) living at 190 HIGH STREET DOWLAIS according to the 1891 census it was probably him?. It says he was born in DERBY.
