Does anyone know the origins of The Rink area of Merthyr and how it got its name.

Hello Gygs1966 The area got the name because of the OLYMPIA roller skating rink that occupied the site before it burnt down I think?. It was built about 1910 and I think burnt down in the 1930's not sure. There is a page on this website that has photo's of the building if you go to the MAP of the town area and click on the PEN-Y-DARREN ROAD by the photo's of THE THEATRE ROYAL on the right hand side of the page there are arrows to TREVITHICK STREET and THE OLYMPIA RINK. Or an easier way!! go to index page on website click on letter O and a link page will appear.
