For the past few years I have been researching and writing a novel about the Aberfan Disaster. I was born and brought up in Aberfan,(1947-1962 )attended both Pantglas schools,( 11+ failure!)and even spent one year as an apprentice electrician ( including several weeks at the coal face) at Deep Nav. Colliery, Treharris.
Does anyone have any memories to share which might be included in the novel? (confidences kept). As the years flash by less and less people in both the valleys and the rest of the UK have never heard of it. A Disaster that ought never to be forgotten, if only to learn lessons from it. It was a Disaster that really should never have happened, but perhaps that's the nature of most disasters? If interested please email:
