I'm writing a novel about Aberfan, focussing on the way the press behaved on the day and the following year. I'm particularly interested in the Civil Defence ladies' work in Aberfan on the day of the disaster and any information generally about the behaviour of the press.
I'd be very grateful for any information.

Will ask some retired Merthyr Express journalists, Suzanne and Adrian Doolan. There is a story that the local St John's Ambulance people were turned away and non-locals accepted to work with the victims, causing bad feeling but you would have to interview those involved, although sadly so many no longer around.

Dear Robert,
Thanks for getting back to me. The novel is almost finished now, although if your retired journalist friends have any specific recollections of press behaving badly during the disaster, I would very much welcome the information. They probably know Rowland Davies, the former editor, who has been very helpful.
