I have traced my family tree to Elizabeth Charles who married John Jones (son of David Jones) in 1850 at Pontmorlais Chapel (Calvinistic Methodist). In the 1861 and subsequent censuses John, Elizabeth and family lived at 109 High Street, Merthyr Tydfil.
In Slater's Directory for 1852-53 both father and son (I think) appear as Booksellers/Stationers (and the father also was a printer) in High Street Merthyr.
There is a bit of a mystery, in that, on the 1851 census it appears that Elizabeth Charles is still living with her father. It is possible that her father did not know about the marriage until later!!
I would welcome any information (including photos) about these people, and/or the businesses and/or the chapel at Pontmorlais.
PLEASE HELP if you can - I feel I need to button down this part of my genealogy before I can move on.
Many thanks.
