If anyone happens to be looking in Merthyr newspaper archives for 1851, would they be kind enough to see if there is any mention of the death of Ann Powell aged 10yrs as a result of accidental burns? This happened either in the last week of April or early May 1851. Thanks very much Greygirl

Hello greygirl There is a tiny report in THE CARDIFF & MERTHYR GUARDIAN newspaper MAY 10TH edition PAGE 3 says inquest held at MOUNTAIN HARE on MAY 3 rd on death of ANN POWELL age 10 who's clothes caught on fire VERDICT ACCIDENTAL DEATH. nothing else. The quality of the image on reels of film of the newspaper are not very good, difficult to read .If you contact MERTHYR CENTRAL LIBRARY they could send you a print out.
