Hi my name is Vivien. Is there someone in Dowlais that can tell me anything about 35 Union Street, it could be Upper Union Street about 1929. Was it a house, business, or a publicans house. I would be very grateful, as my Grandmother died there. On the death certificate it says Union Street. On a probate list it said Upper Union Street. regards

My family used to live on union street. The Canavans I was very young at the time so only have a few memories. The Harris lived across the street and there was an old church at the bottom of the street. Everyone was moved to the Gurnos when they demolished Union street

Hello, I realise that you haven’t signed in for a while. I haven’t been on the site for ages. My father was born in lower union street in 1932. I’m not sure when his parents Thomas Charles Smith and Annie Morfydd Smith (nee Jones), moved in. I’ve been tracing my family tree on ancestry and I can tell you that ‘Jones’ is a difficult line to be following. Lol, there are loads of them 🤦🏻♀️. And Jones marrying Jones. I’m sending you this brief message to make contact to see if we have any family connections in common.
