Can anyone remember the name of the large house that stood on the site of St Mary's Close, at the top of the Walk.
I can remember, as a child, going there to collect conkers and can vividly remember going to the door and being told by an elderly lady to help ourselves after which, she brought out to us some drinks and cakes ~ now that's something that doesn't happen now!!

If my memory serves me right, it was 'Pencaemawr', we used to go there looking for crab-apples. I remember they cemented broken glass onto the top of the wall to prevent us from doing this.
