John Jenkins owned the Thomastown Brickworks from 1865 & the family was involved until its closure. Does anyone know when the brickworks finally closed or any other information?

I have part answered this myself, with info from Robert Protheroe Jones, but am still looking for info & help from from elsewhere. It appears a 99 year lease was offered on the land in 1848. Someone would have to erect the first works after that date meaning the works started between 1848 & 1865 when John Jenkins is thought to have purchased the brickworks aged 27. The works seem to be in Jenkins hands and listed in Directories for 1871, 1884, 1891 and 1914 when John Jenkins (son) is listed. He died at Battle of Cambrai in 1917. In 1926 the business is not listed. This would fit with family stories that the business closed in late20's or 30's.

It would appear that the Thomastown Brickworks became a limited company in 1898. It was named the Merthyr Brick and Tile Co. Ltd. Does anyone remember/know anything of this company? It is believed the business closed in the late 1920's or early 1930's.
