Hiya Mike,
My grandparents used to own and run the Caeharris Post Office (it was the other end of the block from where it is now) and they later lived in Cross Blanche Street. Do you mean the building on the corner of Blanche Street? I remember that being a shop, maybe a hardware store? I'm only going back to the 70s though. The other side of the junction was also a shop IIRC, sold furniture?

there is some confusion about the TRE IFOR ARMS, and the IVOR ARMS....the former was in PENYWERN, and the latter as the photo shows was opposite the ANTELOPE, thanks to all for their help, mike

My great grandfather ran the Tre Ivor Arms in Penywern sometime between 1920's and 1948. I have a couple of letters he wrote to my Grandma when he lived there - the address is at the top of the letter. Before that he ran the Red Cow at Ponsticill - his father Sam Greatrex ran it up until 1899 when he died, his wife Mary then took over until 1906, and then my Great Grandfather ran it from then on up until he went to Tre Ivor (after 1922 I think). My grandma was brought up there - we visit every now and then. Interesting to have the photograph of Tre Ivor Arms from the Merthyr site, I have never seen it before.
