Hello all, Just found this website, & the posts for "Pubs" - I would like to find out any information on the Pentrebach Arms, Pentrebach - my husbands father was born there in 1924, & we would love to know anything about the pub or area. Also the Farmers Arms pub, Pentrebach Road. Another pub that my husbands Grandfather ran was the Welsh Harp Hotel, could someone tell me if that is Pontypridd or Merthyr Tydfil.
Brilliant site by the way, Hope someone can help, Jan

Regarding this enquiry....sorry.
No information on these Public Houses in Merthyr Libraries, although there is information on the history of Pentrebach.
There was A Welsh Harp in Berry Square Dowlais but this is the only public house of that name in the Borough of Merthyr Tydfil.
On a list of over 500 public houses there is no 'Pentrebach Arms' and although there are 5 'Farmers’ Arms', there seems to be none in Pentrebach. However, public libraries do not have the official records relating to licensing and public houses ............. the details of licensees etc have to go to a Record Office, which is:_
Glamorgan Record Office The Glamorgan Building King Edward VII Avenue
Cardiff CF10 3NE
Telephone: (029) 2078 0282 Fax: (029) 2078 0284 Email: GlamRO@cardiff.ac.uk

There was a Welsh Harp in Mill Street at Pontypridd which later was used as the offices of The Pontypridd Observer.
