The Belle Vue is an absolute rip off pub and always has been! The on tap alcohol has always been super expensive and watered down junk! Never mind the sticky carpets - the worst of which had to have been the Zone in the 90s!! You felt like you were glued to the floor it was dreadful!
the vulcan is similar just a dump that the brewery have to be accountable for. The Express is now sadly closed permanently. I used to like the Rocker atmosphere in there!
Merthyr is bereft of quality pubs now the Rugby club (now on the site of the old raf) is ok but does not exude the charm and passion that the RAFA club did. Ah well - old was always best!

Yeah I used to get stuck to the floor in the Belle Vue, would've been late 80's and early 90's for me. Got to agree that the stickiest carpets were found in the Zone in the early 90s though, shocking!

It was difficult to move in The Zone, the floor was so sticky! It was very popular in the Happy Hour when everyone would buy as many bottles as they could carry before the hour ended. Afterwards, folk moved on to Belle Vue, Castle Hotel disco bar,etc on way to Three Horseshoes and Koolers!
