Friday night: Dress in cool clothes, jeans, T-shirt and jacket. First stop the Lamb Inn, couple of pints of Tartan Bitter. Then onto the Vulcan, couple of pints of Double Diamond, cross the road to the Anchor, Albright beer and a game of cards, then onto the Imp (upstairs if you could get in) Saturday night: all dressed up, three piece suit, same pubs but end up in the Morlais Inn next to the Imp for Match of the Day! Sunday quiet evening Morlais all night Simple times! If you were really flush on the Friday or Saturday it was queue up to try and get into Hing Hongs! They used to change the table clothes at 9pm due to the "rabble" coming in after that. Ahh good old days

This posting looks very familiar. What do you mean by a quiet Sunday night Dave, most of us were always dog rough on the Monday morning.

Hi Ron! If I remember right you had to go back to an office job on the Monday and us "manual workers" had to go back to our apprenticeships. Really good to see your name as a guest. I suppose Sunday was a bit more controlled but still plenty of Albright - especially if you sat next to Dai Morlais! Good to hear from you

Not as long as 50 years for me, more like 40. But the Owen Glyndwr was still there then. The dance hall became the Sands with Tom Jones and his Quarrymen! It was the Imp (with landlord Ewart (or Skip) and Thelma and then on to the Morlais. If you felt hungry you nipped to the Park Cafe for some pies! Albright 1s 10p and Barley Bright 2s2d! Went out with four one pounds notes in each pocket of my waist coat and came back home with change!!

;D We also went to the Locomotive and the Red Cow, upstairs. We could sniff the girls out and there were gorgeous girls in Merthyr in the 60's. Why did I leave? I have been in Canada for 41 years and get together with Dai Morgan, Russ Williams and Terry Stokes quite often.
