Vulcan foundry & Engineering Works formerly known as Matthew John's Foundry. John Jenkins (1838-1889) owned the Vulcan works with a Dutchman, I believe. John Jenkins died from his injuries from an accident when installing a rendering boiler at Hallesey & Co, marine store dealers of Bethesda Street. Fred Hallesy was also injured. Can anyone offer information on any of these 3 companies?

I have discovered that John Jenkins did not own the works with a Dutchman, as family stories related. He owned it with Richard de Soldenhoff (apparently of Cardiff in 1889). Richard was apparently a brilliant engineer with a special interest in boilers. It was a boiler accident that killed John Jenkins at the Hallesey business. I believe Soldenhoff's family had been Polish Barons & refugees who arrived in Merthyr via Belgium. If I'm wrong I'm sure I will be corected by a relation of a living Richard de Soldenhoff who has made a request under the Ironworks heading. We'd both like any further info that can be offered, please.
