Good afternoon Merthyr Tydfilians, my name is Jack Rodgers and I'm an American, visiting Merthyr in a couple weeks to look for some family roots, and history.
My five or six times great grandfather, Robert Rodgers, is burried in an unconsecrated grave in Cefn, I have learned, and have gleaned some additional information about Bethel street, the apartments that are there now. I've learned of that history from some locals, but learned from my grandmother that she and my late grandfather were showed around town by a gentleman named Michael Donovan, who around the 2011 era, was a volunteer with the city's local library.
Michael Donovan was kind enough to show my grandparents, Jack and Elise, around the town, an unconcentrated grave and what appears to be a church, which speaking with the bereavement and graves department in Merthyr, might be the headstone location of Robert's daughter, who died at two months old.
I'd love to connect with Michael, buy him a proper pint for my thanks of showing my grandparents around, and luckily explore the places in which my ancestors have lived and were burried.
Looking forward to reading your responses. Thanks so much.
