My great grandfather (Griffith Parry Williams) was called up in 1917. As his wife (my g grandmother) had died in 1914, provision had to be made for the children. The younger ones were listed as living in Lloydcoed Cottage Homes, Merthyr. Does anyone know what/where these were? I was wondering if it was some type of institution set up to look after children in this situation... not orphans but without a parent to care for them during the war. Thanks

Many thanks Merthyrlad. My uncle never met his grandparents and he never knew why. This goes some way to explaining it, and he will be very grateful for the information. Much appreciated.
