I'm trying to find out some more information about the death of my Gt Grandfather John Patrick Donovan. We know he was b.22 June 1879 and worked as a Surface Foreman at a Colliery. He lived with his family in Merthyr. 28 Gellifaelog Ter Penydarren Merthyr this was his address in 1911. He died aged 66 in a Colliery accident at Banwen and that's all we know. My Grandad remembered his death but not what happened. Where can I look to try and find if it was a colliery in Banwen and exactly what happened? He died on Christmas day of all days, how awful.
Also Thomas Donovan, my Gt Grandad's brother also died aged 39 in 1926 in a mining accident according to grandad. He was a Coal trimmer. He lived in Pentrebach, Merthyr. His death was registered in Merthyr Tydfil
