Just opposite the stables in Dowlais and facing what was the old market square were two pubs. The one right on the corner was the Holybush, if i recall correctly, but what was the one next door called,
AND can anyone recall two gents who used to drink there, Mr Alec Winsor and Mr Ken Price. Both worked at Dowlais top. Alec sometimes took a dog in with him. If anyone can recall them or stories about them in either pub i'd be greatful, Alec is ill.

Hi, It was “The Vulcan and Friendship Inn” the Landlords were Howie and Mary Evans. Will get more information on Alec and Ken for you. Colin

Hi Colin,
Now that you mention it, the name does ring a bell or two. Anything that you do find would be usefull and i thank you for it.
Niether of the gents live in Dowlais/Merthyr any more.
