Can anyone shed any light as to where "HIGH GERMANY" was in MERTHYR- Any links to Maps etc would be good.

Would you know if this area of merthyr would be on the 1871 census - trying to find a william maher/mary ann harris married in 1872 - any direction to the best way to search this area or info on it would be much appreciated

High Germany was at the bottom of Park Street and at the rear of Quarry Row.

Hello dp In the 1881 cencus there is a WILLIAM MAHER and MARY ANN with children living at number 7 BANK STREET/SUNNYBANK PLACE MERTHYR TYDFIL . This is the same area of the town in between BETHESDA STREET and BRECON ROAD . DISTRICT 27 UPPER MERTHYR TYDFIL RG11/ 5318 FOLIO 31 PAGE 27. There are houses built there today called SUNNYBANK .
