Hiya
my family moved from Redruth to Merthyr and in the 1871 & 1881 census they were at an address that I think reads Temperance Street.
Does anyone have any photographs of this place or just some kind of idea about what it looked like or where it was or is would be really good.
Thanks a million
Deb

Hello, You could have a look on our 'Streets Index' you can click this link to access the page: www.alangeorge.co.uk/STREETS.htmI had a quick look and there is two Temperance Streets, one listed in Glebelands and one Caepantywyll. If you scroll down the list which goes in alphabetical order you'll be able to get more information on the 2 streets. Hope this helps, Lloyd.

Thanks for your reply - I've had a look at the 1871 census and can see the the streets that appeared immediately before Temperance St were Victoria St & Wellington St.
On your list of Streets, Wellington St is linked with Caedraw, but Victoria St isn't... is Caedraw near either of the areas you mentioned in your reply?
I'd love to know if any of the streets are still standing, to get a feel of how my family lived. I'm just of J48 of M4 so if they're still there it won't take me very long to come and have a look.

Hello,
Both streets were very close to Caedraw, unfortunately all were been demolished in the 1960s / 1970s.
Hope this helps,
Lloyd.

hy, go to Victoria St (from the Plymouth Arms. Building to the right is the entrance to Temperance ST, my grand parents lived there, we lived underneath in Garden ST. The blue door to the left was Thomas"s fish and chips . Temperance St was between Wellington and Bridge Streets. cheers Steve.
