My late father used to work for Hoover's, Pentrebach. What I am wondering is: is it possible to obtain a list of all ex-employees and their addresses from the era highlighted in the above title? Or is it all modern database mind your own business? Grateful for any help to advise me how to go about this.

Hi Jeff, it'll be tough to get a list, I expect all the records have been moved to a head office, somewhere. My Dad, Idris Webber, worked as a tool maker, probably started in the late 50's, he was also secretary of Treharris AEU, later he became shop steward, he retired in 1980's. Best of luck.

If records are available, it may be difficult to receive information etc because of The Data Protection Act, I would think.

Worth a try though, you never know. But still think it'll be a long shot.

Wow great John, I remember going to the children s Christmas Parties in the canteen, the after a certain age we had to go to the Castle Cinema. I failed the apprentice entrance exam in 1973, they were really tough.

Anybody remember Bill Mills, he sadly died last year. I think he worked in inspection. He was married to my Father's, (Idris Webber) sister.

Re. Ginlynne above. Did your mother-in-law live in Aberfan and have a father who ran a brick factorythere, and I understand, a taxi rank? Does she have a red-haired sister also? Curious!-I used to live there.
