St John's Church I found through researching my family history as they lived in Church Street. My great great grandparents were married in the church on 14/05/1901, Arthur Lewis and Fanny DelaHaye. Shame to see it for sale ( www.derekbphillips.co.uk/prop32.htm) and in the state it is. Some superb photos of it on the Church Street page of the Old Merthyr Tydfil area for Penydarren. The rectory is also all boarded up.

Shame to hear about the church and the manse, I was Christened there in 1955, and used to live in Brynheulog St. and North St. still visit the town regularly (now live in Newport) and used to bring the kids up to Carfarthfa Park and tell them what a great heritage they had (doing the same with my grandson now). ex-Penydarren schoolboy and Quakers Yard.
