Hi Jaz, I'm not sure when the photograph was taken, possibly 1900-1910. Ivor Street still exists but the old buildings were demolised in the 1970s and new houses erected in their place. Alan

I have family that show up on the 1911 census as living at the Cuba Inn. The names are James & Julia Wren (My grandparents) and their children including my father. My father was born in Newbridge on Wye but they moved to Dowlais sometime before 1901 as on that census they are shown as living at 26/27 North Street.
If anyone has any other information I would be interested to know.

reply to Jaz re Corner House Inn . Have we spoken before ? David Davies was my great grandfather . He left the Inn in 1911 to live in Charlotte Street .( probably because his 2nd wife Zipporah ...my gr grandmother ...dies in 1911 . He did not die until 1916 . In his will .he left various houses to his surviving daughters and 2 freehold farms ( Carmarthenshire ) to his sons . Corner House is not in his will but my information is that Cuba Inn was left to his daughter Martha ( Whom I knew as my great auntie Maudie ...and stayed with her several times . She married George Hutton . Through whom is David your uncle ?
