Anyone remember the Cyfartha in the 70s & 80s? Billy in the TV room drinking (or dribbling) his cider. Bring your own LPs for Paul to play to the crowd in the back room. Mrs Davies coming into the back room and asking "Whats that funny smell", to uncontrollable giggles from us all!!! The best space invader machine in Merthyr and a great circle of friends who always provided good company any night of the week. Finally 10cc singing "The things we miss the most". Good times

Good times Iwas a regular in the Cyfarthfa from about 1955 until 1959 when it was kept by David Watkins. My friends and I persuaded him to let us bring my old Dansette in to the tiny Lounge [ the Bar was even tinier]on a saturday night so I was the first DJ in that hot night-spot. Mr. Watkins kept hinting about 'the cost of the electric' but we ignored him. Bill Haley topped the pops.

I remember going to the Cyfartha Arms in the early 70s. Was one of the pubs that you could get served under age (started going there when I was 15!). Had some great times there. Would drink Festival Vat cider. What a killer! Have never tasted strong cider like that since. Does it still exist?

Festival Vat was made by Coate's of Nailsea. It eventually became part of Taunton-Coates-Gaymer and Festival Vat is long since defunct.
