Hello Strat,Yes it was very sad and you are not alone in not knowing of his passing away. Many of his loyal fans only found out after the funeral. In fact Micky had been very ill for many years suffering with a brain tumour and living in a care home in Swansea. I’m hoping to meet up with a very close frien of his soon, so that we can write an obituary some very interesting facts. He does have a website and you might find these links interesting too. news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/wales/8562033.stmwww.mickyjones.co.uk/MJ_Biog.htmThanks for your comments.. Goldfish

With regards to Jeff ( Lewis) I saw him about a month ago and we went for a drink to the Wethersthingys Dic Penderyn and had a good chat about the sixties and many laughs too. I hope to see him in the next few weeks so that we can continue to reminisce and laugh about some of the crazy things that we did. I also bumped into you Christmas time while you were talking to an OLD MOD! Ha ha He wont like that.. Old that is ha ha Thanks for your comments. Goldfish

I remember Pete Lovis and his group. He worked for Merthyr Council and I think at one time he was with the entertainments section and involved with organising some of the pop shows they held at The Castle Cinema. I saw Herman's Hermits there, Pink Floyd, Peter Frampton, Small Faces, Cliff Bennett and The Rebel Rousers. I still have the four-page programme of The Small Faces and Cliff Bennett concert. There was a strange occurrence when Procol Harum were due to play at The Castle but instead a group called Freedom arrived. I also saw Love Affair there after they released their second single. They stayed overnight at The New Inn. I also recall the folk nights at The Brunswick - in the back room on Sunday nights in the Seventies. Max Boyce played there. I think others who were there included Colin Scott, Pisces ( including Richard Digance), Shelagh MacDonald and Fred Wedlock from Bristol who died recently and made the charts with The Oldest Swinger In Town. I remember one of the Man incarnations playing at The Merthyr Catholic Hall or perhaps The Drill Hall.

There was mention in an earlier reply regarding the Bass player 'Bobby Brown' querying who he went on to work with. Well, he changed musical direction slightly and he played Bass with the Resident Band at Bindles Ballroom in Barry for a while, maybe a couple of years. I think the Band was called the 'Roy Stevens Band'. The Band was made up of Keyboard/Bass/Guitar/Drums/Sax/Trumpet and occasionally Female vocal. Four of the musicians were from Merthyr. I'm lost as to the name of the Trumpet Player, but I'm sure the others were Bobby Brown (Bass), Vernon Pop (Sax) and Mansel Lewis (Drums). Where Bobby went from there I don't know. Yes, it would be nice to hear from him. Mansel Lewis went to live in the Isle of Man, and in the 90's was part of the Resident Band at the Islands Palace Hotel & Casino. He now lives abroad. I'm not sure if Vernon Pop is still with us, and of course Bindles was ravaged by fire and closed its doors a number of years ago.

I was surprised to learn that I am shy [something I was ever accused of!] & a recluse, well if its good enough for my all time hero Bernie Watson,Lord Sutch's lead guitarist its good enough for me!.as for my best mate & legendary bass player Bob Brown,he's stil playing as mean as ever,we meet at least once a week.as for myself?,I stil spank the plank as hard as ever, only now its in my home studio.if my old mate Link Conway ever reads this, thanks for pointing me in the right direction all those years ago & making me want to play like you, something I never achieved!,you know who this is.....& you stil owe me a Marshall Superfuzz!.good luck,Wolfman
