The Merthyr Express reported on the funeral of my wife's grandfather Mr W. J. Canaid Thomas (William James Thomas) of Abercanaid in Jan 1939.
It reports that his brother Isaac was in hospital.
Amongst the mourners were brother Mr Gwilym Thomas, brothers-in-law Mr Chris Evans, Mr John Williams and Mr Robert Jones, nephews Wilfred Rosser, Trevor Evans and Bryn Jones and cousins Tom and Isaac Griffiths, Dan Rees, T. L. Roberts, D.J. Davies, Richard Roderick, D. J. Lawrence, D. Rees and Edgar Jones.
There were floral tributes from Isaac and Gladys (brother and wife?), Gwilym, Maggie and Catherine (brother and sisters?), Mary and Chris (believed to be brother-in-law Christmas Evans).
If you are related to any of these people or know anything about them I would love to hear from you.

Hello Ron, just wondering where one accesses the newspaper you mention, is it online or do you have to have physical access? Cheers Sorry this isn't a useful reply LOL!

Nothing on line that I know of.
It is all on microfilm at the Newspaper Library at Colindale, London. Probably also in Merthyr Tydfil library.

I have put the contents of my posting at the top here in a letter to the Merthyr Express as there must be a lot of people somewhere around who know something. As I live in Essex I won't know if it gets published. If you see it could you please give it a mention here. Thank you Ron

Are there any photraphs of him, or a biography?
