addendum. .Just read and tried QYGS1966's suggestion about the Red Lion..See first two pics. Can you remember saying this Kedgie..in 2007.."I don't think so Jeff, I thought it was called the Red Lion, but I've looked that up and had no luck..I guess I could just drive out there next time I'm home and hope I don't get lost!" ..Do you think maybe Google is playing games with the Valley Religious Elders and transplanted the pub..on their maps..Maybe that is why my grandads idea didn't catch on in the 1800's..He would have preferred the "Red Dragon"...cos lions and cows are never red are they? :-)) The other couple of pubs below appear quite nice and friendly...but alas,no Church's or Synagogue or Graveyards nearby.:-)) "Talybont on Usk White Hart Inn"?? You mention something about ***** on/upon *****.

Hi. The last time I was back in Merthyr my Aunt took me to a pub that we went through Pontsticill to get to. Although that could have been a scenic route. I think the town it was in was Talybont on Usk. The pub was next to a Church and Cemetery, and opposite some cottages. I can't for the life of me remember it, but it had an outdoor area at the front on the road side. Does anyone know the pub I'm talking about? It was a beautiful place to have a meal on a summers day, and the next time I come back I would love to visit it again.
