I was wondering if there were any silver surfers, who went to the old school, visiting this site. All my schooling, from infants, junior, and then the senior school, were here in Gelli. Teachers like Mr Hollman, from pant. Mr Jones from Pendarren Mr.D.T.Davies. taught me to love music.Mr. Leyshon Williams taught me to love reading (tried to teach me to spell ).Mr. Eddie Rollands, always ready to help you, to dive, or vault over the box or horse, even the piano, with a dap in his hand. Have I tickled your memory buds? Come on lets hear from you.

The name Prosser rings a bell.Perhaps if I said that I lived in Gellifaelog Rd for a short time, and then the rest of my time at a place called "back of the plough", right between Dowlais transport garage and Idris Abrhams bus garage, which became part of the Morlais Transport group. Thanks for your reply,I just wish there were more of the golden oldies on the net from this very colourfull area, there would be some tales to tell.

Your right Ken about Mr.Beynon senior being the caretaker, when the war was declared I remember Mr. Beynon taking our class down into the boiler house, coal fired then, and telling us that this was going to be our air raid shelter if the siren went. Strange but I can still remember the smell of that coal.

I attended Gellifaelog junior school between 1953 - 1958. I remember Miss Letitia Morgan, my form teacher and Miss King. I believe the headmaster was Mr Morgan.

Hello, Malcolm Harries, I have never lived in Merthyr or the Merthyr area, but I was at University in Swansea, where a David Leyshon Willians was one of my contemporaries. He said his father was called Leyshon Williams. I wonder if this is the same person. I now live in the South of France and would like to have news of former friends. Sincerely, Rachel Bowen
